Listening to A Tribe Called Quest [5]

Last night I went to a party in Alphabet City,
didn't know anyone and ended up laying on the roof with my two friends,
it was freezing,
but beautiful.
We got cold pretty fast and decided to leave
and then went on a mad hunt for a place that would sell a burrito.
I was having the biggest craving!
We walked all over,
by now it was after 12 am, which I personally thought was early,
but I guess the burrito places felt differently.
We gave up around 1 am and freezing cold went back to our dorm.

We put some pajamas on and a sqeeeezed into one bed and watch "The Proposal."
It was pretty tight but actually fun.
I feel like being that close (literally),
shows how close we are really becoming, sorry if that was confusing.

I noticed a similar feeling the other day when I had to take the 4 train at rush hour to Brooklyn.
It was packed, but in NYC for me even packed places feel divided.
It was a different feeling on this train, it was packed and people actually felt more "together."
I can't really describe it.
I guess in a way the train was so packed
that not everyone was able to hold onto something
so people were kind of leaning on each other.
To lean on someone else, to me,
feels in a way like you are depending on them,
and in NYC depending on a random person, for any reason,
just doesn't happen.
At that time it felt like it did.

Just my thought.

So, I woke up a little while ago, after falling asleep a little after 3 am.
I've been listening to A Tribe Called Quest all morning.
Plan on starting some homework soon.
Thanksgiving is around the corner and I haven't been home for a month (which is HUGE).
I'll be home Tuesday!

Wearing- Grey Tights (?), Floral Skirt (Express $5), White V-Neck T-Shirt($1-2?), Tan Jacket (Giorgio Armani $7.50), Belt (Came with a dress).

I was watching A Tribe Called Quest videos on Youtube and came across this video.
I love ATCQ and Kid Cudi but I'm not sure how I feel about this video.
I like it but I feel like they really changed the whole meaning of the song.
What do you think?

Beyoncé & Lady Gaga [Day 4]

My friend and I have been watching a lot of Lady Gaga lately. She is a pretty awesome & who could dislike a compilation of both of these fashion icons performers/singers . . . the list can go on. So, it need not be said that I love this video.

I especially love the Beyoncé at 4 minutes!

Dorm Room Wars- Part 1 -Listening to: Blueprint 3

Dorm life is not that bad! I was just trying to think of a grasping title. Its actually been alright lately, but I'll write more about that later.

Talk around NYC lately- Birthdays, oh my gosh, you wouldn't believe how many Libra's there are...I guess it kind of makes sense since Valentines day is about 8 months prior. It was my suitemates 18th birthday this past Sunday, also my mothers, grandmothers, brothers, 2 other classmates and not to mention I'm sure a bunch of my friends on Facebooks birthdays. Well, Happy Birthday (especially my family members)!

So, for the past week and a half my dorm has been working out some regular dorm problems: visitors, not visitors, washing dishes, cleaning in general, homework etc. And now that much of it has been worked out I noticed how proud my mother would be of me, I have truly become a master planner, and am truly my mothers daughter (daddy I love you too!). I planned a dorm meeting last week, which went pretty successful, we worked out and typed up some guidelines (cough*cough rules) as well as made a cleaning schedule. Then this week, while talking to my dad on the phone I typed up a "Visitor Guide" for my roommate, "C", so I would be able to go back to having one roommate rather than a adopted second roommate, C's boyfriend. Not to mention, yesterday, when it was my day to clean the dorm, after I finished I typed a list up of "How To Clean The Dorm", with a thorough outline of where, what, and how to clean. As I said, my mother would be proud---- The three typed "guidelines" are printed, somewhat color coded and taped to the door and cabinets and the cleaning schedule is written on our calendar.  I actually laughed a little while taping the lists up, because I know I have given my mom such a hard time for her list making and typing of everything, but what can I say. Happy Birthday Mom!

As for my dorm room, I have had actually privacy so far this week and its been amazing, although I wish I would be a little more productive with my time...I will work on it!

Funny dorm room story- The funniest thing happened last night, I know I have mention my roommate and her panda bears before, well last night guess what came in the mail!?

Yep, that humongous brand new panda bear, thank-you C's boyfriend. The medium one seemed big before yesterday, the new ones head is maybe a little more then 3 feet in diameter! They all live together in a box under her bed, because they are much to big to fit on the bed with her.

Well I really can't complain.

Fashion (this picture is actually from tis weekend)... Wearing- light blue sweater with pearl and sequined collar  ( $6 Sal, Army), black t-shirt (free- garbage dove for it last week, YES its washed), legging jeans ($20 Forever21), black platform heels ($30 Barefeetshoes), and jewelry of course.

Divvy It Up! [Mommy Visited]

Convo around NYC- Swine Flu, 3 words, WASH YOUR HANDS! Which somehow I've been doing and of course am sick, blowing my nose everything four minutes. Sore throat, runny nose, cough, no fever yet... its bound to come.

Now- I'm sitting in bed, the air is freezing, BUT! --- I made a dorm room divider a couple of hours ago and besides the blisters from putting multiple screws into the wall without a screw driver, its like a whole new world in here! Thank God.
...So basically, I havent really slept in the past week... My roommate, C, is one of those crazy Parsons students: tons of homework! Last night as I was sniffling my way to partial sleep at 2 AM in the morning, I had a epiphany, "I need a room divider!" Well the idea started off as a canopy, but the fabrics on those things don't really block much light, and I decided if I tried to put a heavier fabric I would end up suffocating myself (not a great plan). Then I thought of a room divider, I mean how hard could it be? Get a couple of screws, some wire, some fabric, my roommate has a sewing machine and there we go, my late nights of being kept up by lights woud come to a end (hopefully). My mother came to my dorm around 2 PM, on buisnes in NYC, and after going through some general dorm room complaints, I told her my plan. Then my father was called, who kind of trashed the idea (I love you daddy), and said it would just give my roommate the idea that she wouldnt have to be as quite...I still had strong belief... So my mother and I went to Kmart, to the hardware store, the fabric store, back to Kmart, realized she then had to go to catch her train and I was left on my own to assemble my concoction.

& I hate to say I told you so, but as we speak (or write/read) I have a gorgeous purple black iridescent taffeta room divider, and it is currently blocking light from the other side of the room =]

Fashion- Luckily I ravaged the racks of Salvation Army earlier this week and was able to convince my suite mate to squeeze my purchases into her laundry (thank-you), otherwise with my current state of being sick this section would be rather boring. But since I got dressed today, Wearing: stripped v-neck shirt (buffalo exchange $ cheap), izzue.com blue jacket ($10! Sal Arm), tights (2 for $20 express), boots (on sale at UO).

So, I'm off to sleep, but would like to leave off with this thought from class today (Class = Utopian Imagination) --- I struggle with the ideas of utopias in general, how can people say they have made a utopia when it is obvious that the world around them is struggling? And to me it more seems like an escape mechanism...but, what's your idea of a Utopia?

Gnight
